Agile Guitar Modifications

Top 5 Mods To Make Your Agile AL 2000 A Great Guitar!

Let’s be fair, the Agile AL 2000 is already a great guitar especially when you think about how dirt cheap it is!  It really doesn’t need anything done to it.  However, there are certain modifications that can be done to the Agile AL 2000 to take it from a great “bang for your buck” guitar to just simply a great guitar.  We have come up with a list of the top 5 modifications we think you can make to your Agile guitar to make it a great guitar.  See if you agree!

1. Change the nut to a Graph Tech

This is fairly easy to do and really cheap.  In fact, you don’t even have to remove the strings just loosen them.  Use a piece of sandpaper to file down the nut to the desired height.  Attach it with a little bit of wood glue and tighten strings back down to hold it in place while the glue sets.

2. Swap out the pickups

Again, this is actually a fairly easy thing to do.  The choices are endless for pickups that you could put in the Agile Al 2000.  You could go with a more expensive name brand pickups like a Seymour Duncan 59 or something cheaper you find from GF or Amazon.  If you are really adventurous you could even just swap out the magnets in the stock AL 2000 pickups and replace them with Alnico II magnets to give the guitar a totally different sound.

3. New electronics

There are lots of fully wired ready to go electronics on the market today that you can swap into the guitar.  You can go with 500K pots and better capacitors or leave all the electronics in there and just get new capacitors.  This is not a very expensive thing to do and not to hard if you have a soldering iron and some solder kicking around.

4. New jack input

The jack input on the Agile AL 2000 we have is always loose.  Because of this sometimes the guitar signal kicks in and out.  This is an easy upgrade and a little bit more heavy duty jack input will make sure that signal stays strong and true.

New pickup selector switch

This is probably the least necessary thing but hey while you are at it doing all the other modifications you might as well do this one too.  The selector switch that comes from the factory is satisfactory but for a few bucks you can buy a nice heavy duty switch and install it yourself.

Is All This Really Necessary?

Is putting a new stereo in your car really necessary or buying chrome rims for you car really necessary?  Of course not!  But you do these things because it’s fun and you like to tinker with stuff and there is also that desire we have in all of us to take our things and make them better.  The Agile AL 2000 plays and sounds great without any modifications but sometimes you get bored and you want to change things up and these are 5 cheap ways to modify your Agile AL 2000 and make it your own.
