These days, buying a Agile Guitar online is definitely a legitimate way to go.
As with so many other things, the savings that can be had from purchasing an electric guitar online are substantial.
In the past it was considered a big deal that you could not play the guitar first before you bought it when buying guitars online.
However, with better return and exchange policies you can be sure if the guitar is not up to your liking that you can send it back or exchange it for another one with most online businesses.
The problem is there are so many guitars online to choose from when you are looking to buy an electric guitar that it is difficult to know what to look for.
If you are looking to buy an expensive electric guitar like a Gibson than you can maybe save more money by being able to shop around online and compare prices than if you just went to your local music store.
If you are looking to buy cheap guitars however, then you may have to do a little more research into making sure you get a decent guitar.
However, there is always the possibility that whether you buy a cheap guitar online or an expensive guitar online there is always the chance you may get one that was the “lemon” of the batch.
Pros and Cons of buying electric guitars online:
Let’s talk about the Cons first!
- You can’t play the guitar before you buy it.
This is probably the biggest negative to buying a guitar online. However like we said before most of the online stores have excellent policies where you can return or exchange the guitar if you don’t like it.
- You can’t inspect the guitar in person before you buy it.
Again, like the above point, this is something you don’t really have to worry about as much anymore because you can always send it back if the guitar is not up to your standards. Besides just because you inspected something in person still doesn’t mean you won’t have problems with it later. Just think of all the things you have bought in person that you took back because it didn’t perform like it was supposed to. Check out the online store you are going to purchase from. Look at their return policy and check out there online reviews. There will always be some bad reviews because some people are never happy but get an overall feel for how they conduct their business and decide whether you feel comfortable purchasing from them.
- You have to wait for the guitar to be shipped to you.
They say anticipation makes getting the guitar that much better so maybe this is a good thing!
Let’s talk about the Pros!
- You can save money!
Lot’s of times the guitar you look for online will be cheaper than the one you find in the store. Heck, if you really can’t stand buying a guitar online than you can try and see if your local store will match the online price or at least get close to it.
- Way more selection
There selection online often just cannot be matched at your local music store. Half the fun is window shopping right! You can look at all the different guitars out there, narrow down your search by price range and research online reviews of guitars you are interested in all from the comfort of your home.
- No pushy salespeople
This isn’t meant to disparage salespeople but I find a lot of times they are asked to do an impossible job. Take for instance at the local music store. If there are a ton of guitars there how can they possibly know about all the guitars. Often I find now when I shop for something I have researched it online and I already know more about the product I am looking at then the salesperson. Maybe it’s just a pet peave of mine but I usually find it more annoying than anything to deal with the salesperson.
